Instrument Pipefitter Apprenticeship Programme

De-Ugonec Services is offering an apprenticeship opportunity for individuals who are looking to develop a career in instrument pipe fitting. De-Ugonec Services offers employment, training and a pathway to a prosperous and interesting career that is full of diversity and new experiences.

What is pipefitting?

Pipefitting is the laying out and marking out, cutting, forming and joining of metal pipe, which when assembled forms instrument process piping. Typical instrument process pipe is under high pressure, which requires metals such as stainless steel and many different alloy metals fused together through precisely cutting, threading and bending .

What can you expect?

As an apprentice you can expect to undergo a period of training at a college/training provider, usually lasting 1 year. During this year you will be trained in aspects of the discipline such as health and safety, reading and interpreting drawings, symbols and specifications; cutting and shaping pipe using hand and machine tools, laying out pipework, forming pipe using pipe bending machines; assembling pipework using nuts and bolts and testing the assembled systems.

In the 2nd and the 3rd and final year of your apprenticeship, you’ll gain further experience in the processes and techniques, although this time it will be in the setting of an engineering construction site.

Working environment

Having been trained in the fundamental skills at a college or training centre, an Apprentice can expect to go on sites such as petrochemical plants, oil refineries and other processing plants, often working in harsh conditions and at considerable heights.
